As a child, I loved Christmas. It wasn’t because of the presents, although I would be lying if I said I was one of those kids who didn’t wake their parents up at 4 am because Santa had come to the house. What I loved was making paper advent chains from red and green construction paper, baking cookies with my Mom, and watching holiday specials together.
I loved either going to the local Christmas tree farm and cutting down our own tree, carrying it home and decorating it together. Even when decorating it meant my mom handed me a bowl of popcorn with a needle and thread. Have you ever actually made a popcorn garland? Not something I am passing along! Hahaha!
When we visited the area my Uncle Tim, who is now passed, ALWAYS took us to a movie on Christmas day, so now there are certain movies, and music within those movies that remind me of Christmas, and my Uncle (who passed a few years ago). But, for me, it’s music that brings back the most memories. Different songs that remind me of all of us loading into the car to go and look at Christmas lights in our area, or of Christmas programs at school. The music reminds me of singing in the state capitol with my choir in high school and Christmas concerts with my high school band.
I made this playlist to share with your family, so you can create memories and traditions. There are some newer artists and plenty of the classic artists as well. I tried not to duplicate any songs, but if I did, it should be a different artist. I hope you enjoy this list and if you would like any songs added to it, let me know in the comments!
