Week 17 woot woot! I can’t believe it’s already been that long! I can’t believe I didn’t pop a gasket back in week 4 or 5 and quit!
This week I want to talk about bullying. No, I am not talking about your kid! I’m talking about you! I’m talking about me! I’m talking about how we use our minds to defeat ourselves when it comes to weight loss or goal setting, or anything we’re trying to accomplish.
I spent the last week finding every feasible excuse NOT to exercise. This was especially disappointing today when I stepped on the scale and hit a BIG milestone in weight loss. I lost another 2lbs. You would think I would be jumping for joy because I can’t REMEMBER the last time I was at this weight. (let me tell ya, it almost made me cave in and tell you how much I weigh, but I am still not QUITE there. Neiner neiner neiner!!! 😉 )
But, here I am, kinda celebrating, and yet at the same time I am pouty, whiny, and feeling a little bad for myself because I know it could have been more if I had stayed out of my own head! I did NOT start the free weight loss program I talked about last week and I am pissed off at myself for it because I made excuses not to do it! GRRRRRRRRR! Here are some examples:
When I did my tests for the program it hurt my back, and I can’t throw out my back again!
My knees hurt too bad on my floor to do the exercises in the program, I need a thicker mat, and I don’t have 5 lbs. weights because the store doesn’t have them.
I’m going to go walking. I need to take the dog though because she needs it too, and she’s crazy on the leash right now, it hurts my back, so I’m not going to go.
I’m going to ride my bike, but it makes my legs ache for days, so I am not going to go.
It’s raining. (Ok, it has seriously been raining like crazy, and I am over it!!! When you see my weight loss photos, the grass is HIGH because it’s rained so long my lawn guy hasn’t been able to mow!)
There is pollen everywhere, I have allergies, and I keep having asthma attacks and/or can’t breathe.
So you see, I want to celebrate, because I did have a BIG WIN! But the other part of me wants to stand in front of a mirror, look myself directly in the eyes, and ask the following:
When in the hell did you become such a freaking CHICKEN?!!!!
I spent the entire week wrapped in my own head, and self bullying! WHAT?!!! WHY?!!! The worst part was I couldn’t get out of that head space! I would try, and almost immediately find another excuse. While talking to my sister-in-law today, and trying to come to a final decision as to what I would write about today, she asked me a simple question after I was
a little whiny:
If you wouldn’t give power in your life to another person WHY would you give it to a thought?
*jaw drop* See why I love her?
Instantly, and I do mean INSTANTLY my thoughts changed. I felt empowered, I felt renewed, and I felt a little silly for wasting a week of my life being a whiny brat instead of kicking my life into gear and making more of a change. Instead of being mad at myself, I felt inspired to work harder, and instead of feeling bad thinking I could have lost more than 2lbs. if I had worked harder, I decided to remember that today is a new day, and HOLY COW I LOST 2LBS!
It’s awesome! I’m stoked, and I am NOT going to allow a thought to control my head. Your thoughts are power, whether it’s negative or positive! Remember that!
I decided to share a spread of foods because I ate A LOT of the same foods this week. Oatmeal for breakfast to increase fiber, tuna sandwiches most days at lunch, and some couscous mixed with peas that was leftover. All tasty, and all to lose 2lbs! WOOHOO! Did I tell you I’m down 22 POUNDS? To give you a mental idea, that’s almost exactly 2 10 lb bags of potatoes! WOW!
I also had to take my own photos this week because the hubs was working again, and it looks like I forgot to take a front view! WHOOPS!
