Happy Mother’s Day to those of you who are Moms. Happy Fur-baby Mom day to those with fur kids!
We are 19 weeks in to this challenge. 19. Huh, almost the same number of pounds I have lost. Which is still sitting at 21lbs for the week by the way. It was a weird week for me this week, and I learned something the hard way:
Even if you are supposed to have a work lunch, go ahead and pack a back up lunch just in case.
Totally happened to me and I was LIVID about it. Mostly, I think because I was not prepared and somewhere in the back of my head I KNEW I should have packed a spare lunch. I think it was because my work interfered with my no eating out at lunch goal in the first place. It was an unknown restaurant to me, so I had to spend time researching what I COULD eat there without looking like an idiot in front of a group of people. Then it was cancelled.
Luckily, I have a friend nearby who happened to be on her way to Kroger, so she picked me up a turkey sub from there. It was edible for sure (tasty in fact), but not in the calorie range I would have packed on my own. (I’m still incredibly grateful she picked it up, or I probably would have had Burger King because it’s close.)
Regardless, it helped me learn a two lessons:
1. You’re the only person responsible for meeting your goals.
2. Life is going to throw curveballs at your perfect plans and you have to learn how to adjust.
For me, that will ALWAYS mean having a back up lunch from now on.
I guess you could say I learned another lesson this week. I’m actually being really hard on myself and I need to quit. I have this perfectionist mentality that if I can’t do a full work out then I am not going to bother. It’s really silly. I am still fighting through my own head.
I decided the best way to combat this problem is to follow my OWN ADVICE on goal setting *ahem* and start breaking it down into smaller weekly changes. I did this at the beginning as I worked through my foods choice, so now it’s time to do this with exercise.
Goals for this week:
1 Morning and 1 Evening Workout
I am going to go for 20 minutes per day. I have already met this goal for the last two days, so I figure I just have to keep it up this week. I am hoping it will get everything moving again!

I don’t normally talk about weight loss reality TV, because I know it’s not “reality”. I’ve read articles where the number of days are fudged here and there etc., but on the whole I still like watching The Biggest Loser. We have a Hulu subscription, so I have been watching season 16, and it rings true to me. Those people were all athletes like me, and they all ended up obese. They are also all fighting against it, on the show, and it’s something I GET. I understand their frustrations more than I have with any other cast, and truthfully, I am a little jealous of those transformations, so I am going to fix it!
Here are my update photos for the week:
