An outdoor garden style not only makes your yard welcoming and inviting, it gives you a chance to show off more of your style. If you drive through any neighborhood you will certainly see different types of decorations in the yard. I have to admit that as out of fashion as they are, I am still in love with those different colored gazing balls on a pedestal that used to be around.
I was looking at my own yard ornaments the other day and noticed something about my own gardening style. I have a concrete bench, two concrete fairies, and a resin type statue (Looks like concrete) of two kids on a seesaw in the yard. All of the other ornaments there were left by other people, and include a squirrel and a raccoon.
If I had to name my top two traits for yard ornamentation, they would be fairies and something too heavy to easily carry away. I also just came to the painful realization that I don’t have a bird bath. It’s kind of sad given how much I enjoy watching birds!
This little fairy girl is my second favorite. I love her little smile and the way her dress flows around as if she is really in motion. I love that no matter which direction you photograph this statue, you will find something unique to look at.
My absolute favorite yard decoration is this lovely lady. My ex- mother in law gave her to me as a birthday gift one year. I believe it was originally the top part of a fountain (I would have loved to see that fountain). This piece has been through a mess. A tree branch came down one year and knocked part of her wing off. This spring my brother was doing another project and had some extra cement and was able to repair it for me. I was ecstatic!
I think she is about due for a date with the pressure washer though!
